Edward Dwurnik

Urodzony w 1943 roku w Radzyminie. Wybitny polski malarz i grafik, jedna z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych osobowości polskiej sztuki współczesnej. Jedyny polski artysta, któremu udało się odnieść międzynarodowy sukces przed transformacją (m.in. udział w „documenta 7" w Kassel w 1982 roku). W latach 1963-70 studiował malarstwo, grafikę i rzeźbę w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie. W 1965 roku rozpoczął niezależny od toku studiów cykl rysunków i akwarel, a od 1966 obrazów olejnych „Podróże autostopem" – charakterystyczne widoki miast z lotu ptaka. Poza malarstwem Dwurnik uprawiał grafikę i rysunek – zarówno autonomiczne serie, jak i ilustracje. Lubił projektować monumentalne kompozycje malarskie w przestrzeni publicznej. Stworzył rysunki i gwasze do filmów animowanych „Warzywniak, 360 ST." (2007 r.) oraz „Oaza" (2009 r.) w reżyserii Andrzeja Barańskiego. Powstało kilka filmów dokumentalnych o twórczości artysty, m.in. „Owoce Ziemi" (1977), „Portret z natury" (1984) i „Polska Nike" (1987) w reżyserii Andrzeja Szczygła oraz „Podróże Edwarda Dwurnika" (1995) Grażyny Banaszkiewicz. Zmarł w 2018 roku w Warszawie.
