In the artistic daily, a sculpture of a monument by Rajmund Gruszczyński, popularly known as the “Fork”, erected at the end of the 1970s in Warka.
It is a surprising and monumental object, reminiscent of Władysław Hasior and his organs. It emerges from among buildings and bushes like a monumental fork stabbing clouds… hence its common name. Please appreciate this expression, this sweeping and brutality of the form. What a bravery! The obelisk is dedicated to Polish airmen who fought on all fronts of World War II.
The designer of the structure was Eng. Andrzej Chałubiński, and the contractor was the company “Chemomontaż”.
Born in 1929, Rajmund Gruszczyński was the head of the Sculpture Department of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers and played a key role in the pioneering times of the Sculpture Center in Orońsko. In 1969, he founded the Society of the Friends of Sculpture, which managed the park and manor complex and the Center for Creative Work of Sculptors.
It is difficult to escape associations with Godzilla or the Catastrophic Mechatron, and it is hard not to think about the unusual – in fact – and surprising monument megalomania of Polish art dedicated to the call, as well as the lack of a sense of humor in Polish public space and its … well. .. monumentality. It’s amazing that this Megapterodactyl simply does not fit anything in Warka, as if it just didn’t care. Perhaps now the Ark is showing its reciprocity with him completely ignoring his condition?
